Angie Moore is the MUA’s Offshore Oil and Gas Decommissioning Policy Analyst and Campaigner. She is also the union’s elected, honorary National Women’s Representative and a member of the MUA National Council. A former seafarer and wharfie with more than 20 years’ maritime experience, Angie advocates for safe, secure and equitable work across the industry. She also participates in the Hunter Workers Women’s Committee and the Net Zero Economy Authority’s Worker Transition Advisory Group, contributing workers’ voices and a gender-equity perspective to regional transition planning.
The Reindeer gas field off Western Australia has stopped producing, but its platform, wells and 43 kilometres of offshore pipeline remain in place. The physical clean-up has been pushed into the future, along with the question of whether enough money is already secured to pay for it. That is a worker's issue.
